Our top 4 team predictions for the Spanish La Liga 2019/2020 season
After taking a close look at the Spanish La Liga final table for last Season and the teams performance in pre-season games, along with the transfer window market, we are set to bring you our top 4 finishers for the new season: Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid and Valencia are all the Favourites.
Barcelona Betting Tips
No doubt that Barcelona will win the title this season again as Real and Atlético just don’t have a squad better than Barca. New signings like De Jong and Griezmann are sure to make a good impression. However, this season could well determine the outcome of Ernesto Valverde, as it will be important for him and Lionel Messi to win both the UCL and the league title.
Barcelona have been dominating La Liga in the last decade and I can’t see that changing. As well as adding Griezmann, Neto and De Jong, there could be more to come, maybe including Neymar. Their strike force is strong with Messi, Suarez, Dembele, and Coutinho (if he stays). While their defence and midfield, while not as good as the attack, are still solid and pretty strong. Plus Ter Stegen is arguably one of the best goalies at the moment and we are pretty sure that Barcelona will end up at the top of the league this Season with there first game on the way.
Spanish La Liga
Barcas will take on Atlético Bibao in the opening game in San Mames Barria Stadium, their first away game. Barcelona did very well in their pre-season games, and with some pretty good signings, are fully prepared for the new season with a solid squad. Odds for Barcelona to win their first away game against Bilbao are 7/10 and to finish top of the league are at 4/7.
Atlético Madrid Betting Tips
In their masterclass pre-season, Atlético beat Real Madrid, Juventus, and the MLS all-stars. Although Atletico’s defence has been weakened, the addition of João Félix should be exciting as the young Portuguese star is showing his huge potential. They have lost good payers like Griezman Godin, Rodri. Although Godin was the core of their back line. They still have a pretty good defencewith Oblak, arguably one of the best goalies in the world. With other key players such as Saul, Morata and Lemar, they could well become title challengers to Barcelona.
Atletico Madrid have been active in the transfer window, bringing in Felix, Hermoso, Llorente, and more. They don’t look like they have lost a step and I strongly see them finishing in second place this season. I would love it if they won, but Barca’s quality simply outweighs them.
Atletico will take on Getafe in their first new season game on the 18th of august and they are favourites to win that game at the odds of 1/2, while odds to finish top 4 in the table are at 1/6, to win the league this season they are 12/1.
Real Madrid Betting Tips
A poor pre-season shows that Real Madrid desperately need to sign a few more players. A new midfielder, winger, and defender would be fancied by Zidane to actually challenge Barcelona and the other Madrid team in the title race. I predict Real Madrid to finish third this season.
I don’t expect much from Real in terms of actually competing for the top 2 spots, their focus will be on reclaiming the UEFA Champions League. Even with the addition of Hazard, the midfield is still a problem with with ageing Kroos and Modric, and their defenders simply concede too many goals.
Spanish La Liga
However, Real Madrid have been strengthening their team with other new arrivals, as well as Eden Hazard, they have brought in Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo and Jovic. This has made the Los Blancos team look a more balanced side. After the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo the team was out of balance, but the return of Zidane has given the positive message that the team needed. But I still feel that they will end up with Second or third place in La Liga this season.
Real’s first game of the new season is away to Celta Vigo on the 17th of August, with odds of 6/10 for Madrid to claim three point and odds of 1/100 to finish in the top 4, while to win the league at their odds are 13/8.
Valencia Betting Tips
Given the talent that Valencia have, they are probably going to comfortably get fourth place and play Champions League Football once again. Everyone was surprised when they beat Barcelona 2–1 in the Copa Del Rey Final, as well as being undefeated against them in the league. They have a very consistent and good squad. They did lose Neto, but still have a good squad. Valencia are clearly a team going places and few would bet against Los Che taking another leap forward this term. Despite being narrowly edged out in the Champions League Group Stage, they thrived overall in the 2018/19 season, securing 4th place in La Liga once more alongside a semi-final finish in the Europa League.
However, their standout achievement last season was lifting the Copa Del Rey for the eighth time in their history, beating Barcelona in May’s final at Benito Villamarin. That performance and result proved that Valencia are back amongst the Spanish elite and they are a team to be feared this term. Boss Marcelino has done an outstanding job at the club, and with a couple of strong additions over the summer in the shape of Maxi Gomez and Jasper Cillessen, we fully believe that Los Che can break up the top four stronghold this season and make their mark on the Champions League.
Valencia’s first home game of the new season comes on the 17th of August against Real Sociedad and they are the bookies favourite to win the game with odds of 13/20. Valencia to finish in the top 4 of the table for this season are at odds of 11/8, and a value bet worth going for is Valencia to win the league this season with odds of 100/1.
